Issue
Barcode scanners that appear in Windows Device Manager with a hardware ID of HID#VID_0581 cannot be used within FactoryLogix out of the box. This hardware ID is generic and shared by multiple hardware devices beyond barcode scanners (such as keyboards).
Background
Because HID#VID_0581 is used by a range of hardware devices, adding this ID to the FactoryLogix configuration in the past caused incorrect behavior for users whose keyboards or similar devices shared the same hardware ID. As a result, this hardware ID was removed from the default configuration file.
Resolution
You may manually add HID#VID_0581 to the FactoryLogix Operations configuration file if required for your scanner hardware.
Warning
This hardware ID must be re-added to the configuration file after each FactoryLogix software upgrade, as upgrades overwrite the configuration file.
The configuration file is located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Aegis\FactoryLogix applications\FactoryLogix_Production.exe.config. Add the hardware ID in the <hardwareIds> section of the file.
