FactoryLogix Learning

FactoryLogix and sensitive or classified information

KB ARTICLE

Overview

This article describes how FactoryLogix handles sensitive and classified data, including ITAR-controlled information, and the available options for restricting access.

User Library access controls

FactoryLogix provides a User Library feature that can be used to restrict access to assemblies. When an assembly is associated with a specific user account group (referred to as a "Customer" in the system), only user accounts that are members of that group can open and interact with the assembly's data, including the BOM, CAD, part assignments, assembly work instructions (AWIs), and line programming.

Warning

Associating an assembly with a user group limits access to the assembly's content, but some metadata—such as the assembly name—may still appear in search results and DataMiner reports for users without access.

ITAR data handling

International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) is a set of U.S. Department of State regulations that control the export of defense and military technologies. Organizations subject to ITAR may require that all data related to controlled assemblies be stored in a dedicated environment with strict access controls, accessible only to authorized personnel.

Database isolation for ITAR assemblies

A separate FactoryLogix database can be created to store ITAR-only assemblies. The requirements for the supporting infrastructure depend on how the database will be used:

Use case

Separate Application Server required?

FactoryLogix Office (process engineering) work only—no automation or traceability

No

Automation traceability required (xLink, integrations, and so on.)

Yes

A dedicated Application Server and service environment are required.
