Enable and review IIS logging for the FactoryLogix website

Overview

This article describes how to enable and review IIS logging on the FactoryLogix website.

Enable IIS logging

  1. Open the Windows Start Menu and enter Run in the search bar.

  2. Type inetmgr and press Enter to open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

  3. In the Connections pane, expand the server node.

  4. Expand the Sites node and double-click the site for which you want to enable logging.

  5. In the IIS section, double-click Logging.

  6. In the Actions pane, select Enable to turn on logging.

Note

The default logging settings do not need to be modified for standard troubleshooting purposes.

Locate the site ID and log files

  1. Open the Windows Start Menu and enter Run in the search bar.

  2. Type inetmgr and press Enter to open IIS Manager.

  3. In the Connections pane, expand the Sites folder.

  4. Right-click the website and select Manage Website to open the sidebar.

  5. Select Advanced Settings.

  6. Note the ID value displayed in the settings—this is the site's unique ID.

  7. Open File Explorer and navigate to C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles.

  8. Open the folder named W3SVC followed by the site ID obtained in the previous step (for example, W3SVC1).

  9. Review the log files in that folder.
